I’m So Glad You’re Here
A safe space to feel heard, supported and understood.
Meet Belinda
I am a registered psychologist based in Freshwater, NSW, offering in person counselling locally and online sessions across Australia. I have lived and worked on the Northern Beaches for the past 20 years and this community has become a deeply meaningful part of my life.
My work is shaped by a genuine commitment to connection. I believe people thrive when they feel understood, supported and empowered and I aim to create a safe, respectful space where individuals and families can explore challenges, draw on their strengths and move toward meaningful change. My areas of focus include supporting people experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges and work or school‑related stress. I also bring over 12 years’ experience in drug and alcohol services, with a particular interest in supporting family members affected by a loved one’s substance use. This includes helping them navigate the impact of these experiences, establish healthy boundaries and prioritise their own wellbeing.
Supporting people through life’s complexities has been the steady thread throughout my career. I have always been drawn to honest conversations and the quiet courage it takes to speak about what feels hard. Clients often tell me they feel at ease in our sessions. That matters to me. I believe change begins when you feel safe enough to be open and met with genuine respect. My role is not to fix you, but to sit alongside you as you untangle what feels overwhelming and reconnect with your resilience and strength.
“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
— Brené Brown
About My Approach
My approach is warm, collaborative, grounded and professional. I draw upon a range of evidence‑based therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Interpersonal Neurobiology and Strengths‑Based approaches. These frameworks help guide our work in a way that is flexible, responsive and tailored to your needs.
I also have a particular interest in mindfulness practices and have completed advanced training in Focusing, a body‑centred approach that supports self‑empathy, awareness and motivation for positive change.
In addition to these approaches, I am passionate about using creative techniques to support insight and engagement. I have completed training in The Play of Life®, an experiential, strengths‑based method that helps people see their lives, relationships and challenges from a fresh perspective. Based in psychodrama, systems thinking and neuroscience, The Play of Life® offers a safe, creative and practical way to foster insight, emotional regulation and meaningful, sustainable change. As an accredited Play of Life® practitioner, I am trained to facilitate this process with care, structure and ethical practice.
Areas of Focus
Professional Background
I completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) (Honours) at Macquarie University and a Graduate Diploma of Counselling through the Australian College of Applied Psychology. I am registered with AHPRA, a Medicare provider, and a full member of the Australian Psychological Society. Across more than twenty‑five years in Government, Non‑Government and Private Health settings, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through many different seasons of life. These experiences have shaped my clinical practice and deepened my respect for the trust people place in me when they invite me into their world. It is a responsibility I hold with care, humility, and genuine appreciation.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice to ensure the support I provide remains ethical, thoughtful and responsive. Whether you attend sessions in Freshwater or connect online from elsewhere in Australia, you can expect care that is professional, compassionate and grounded in integrity.
